Turn & Talk: Can you see an apple in the dark?
What is light?
Light is a kind of energy called electromagnetic radiation. Light is the visible pat of the electromagnetic spectrum. There are other kinds of electromagnetic radiation (EM) like radio waves, microwaves, and x-rays, but the part that humans can see is the part that makes up the rainbow.
White light is made up of all of the colors. Darkness is the absence of light.
An object would appear green because it absorbs all of the other colors in the visible spectrum, reflecting only green back at your eye.
Light travels in the form of a wave, but moves in straight lines unless it is reflected (bounced off a surface), refracted (bent), or blocked.
